In this article we are going to talk about how you can rebuild your relationship with your dog. I am using a special technique from the book A Course In Miracles to forgive what I am seeing. This technique does not only apply to dogs, but in this article we are going to focus in on how to do it with a dog I was watching for a friend.

How to overcome fear of dogs

In this video I explain how I used ACIM to overcome my fear with a dog I was looking after. Hopefully this video and article will inspire you to try something different. This process can be used for adults as well as kids.

I explain a personal forgiveness lesson I had with a dog named Hanz. Very nice dog, but I had some forgiving to do. It might seem odd unless you are familiar with ACIM (A Course In Miracles). If you have not heard about it, maybe you should watch the video A Course In Miracles and why you should read it first that might give you some background.

How does this work

If you have a small fear of dogs like I had. First off realize that the dog is barking or reacting to the fear that is inside you. When a dog is barking it is because he or she is afraid also. So the dog is actually defending itself of the fear it is perceiving energetically in you. So it is actually alarming you that you have a fear there.

How to move past the fear

This can be a bit tricky, hopefully the video will also give you an idea what I did in my process. You don’t even have to do this while the dog is present. But it is essential that you can get into a space where you feel the discomfort you feel when your fear is present. So here is some steps to go through:

  1. Imagine the dog and what it does to trigger you, or whenever you are actually triggered in real life.
  2. Make sure you are safe and there is no actual danger present.
  3. Relax your body, if you can go into a meditative state. But this can be done eyes open also.
  4. With your knowledge of ACIM, realize that you have an imbalance in the way you are looking at the dog.
  5. Talk to your higher power. Say: I don’t don’t want this energy any more. I understand that this was created a time when it was trying to keep me safe. Talk with conviction and energy determination.
  6. Ask to be released from this feeling. Say: I release this feeling now. Be ready to release the feeling. Feel it being released from your body. Keep doing this every time you experience the feeling.

Once you have released the feeling of fear within you the dog will normally also start behaving differently. sometimes it might take several times to really get the hang of this, but it really does work. What will help this process work is the study of the book A Course in Miracles. You can read more about how to study course in miracles for beginners. This will help you get started.
